Samsung Galaxy S3 (S III) Benchmarked As Samsung Galaxy GT-I9300

A new set of results has just been published after testing of a new Samsung Galaxy model late last month, noted as the Galaxy GT-I9300 which many believe is the model number of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 (S III).
The results of these recent tests through GLBenchmark's suite show a different screen resolution to that of the reported full HD 1080p expected on the new Galaxy S3, instead they show a 1196 x 720 pixel display which is exactly the same as the current Samsung Galaxy Nexus model.
Believed to have been performed by one of Samsung's own employees, the tests also reveal that the processor was listed as ‘maxing-out' at 1.4GHz rather than the expected 1.5GHz rumoured to be powering the Galaxy S3, crucially though, there was no information into the number of cores although most now believe that it will no doubt be a quad-core chip.
This is mostly down to the fact that many rival manufacturers are already shipping new smart phone models with quad-core technology, these include the new HTC One X and LG Optimus 4X HD models, what was revealed is the Samsung GT-I9300 tested was running on a Samsung Exynos 4 processing chip which could be either the dual-core Exynos 4212 or most likely the quad-core Exynos 4414.
Another interesting fact to come out of these tests is that this new Galaxy phone features a Mali 400 MP GPU which also featured in the Samsung Galaxy S2, however this still produced a score of 6584 frames (58.3fps) equal to that of the Galaxy S2 despite needing to push substantially more pixels in this new model.
Also confirmed in these tests is that the new model will be running the Android 4.0.3 operating system known as ‘Ice Cream Sandwich' which was first launched in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and is to be available on many new high-end devices such as the Huawei Ascend D quad, HTC One S, V and X models, Panasonic ELUGA Power and LG Optimus Vu.
We do need to remember that all of this information is based on a model called the GT-I9300, although many feel this is the model number of the new Galaxy S3 the specifications above do seem to be a let down to the expected and rumoured pre-launch suggestions.
It could easily turn out to be an entirely different model such as the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus which would make sense since the manufacturer has just released the Samsung Galaxy S Plus and S Advance models, the only other reported model number that is known of is the GT-I9500 but it has been reported that this is in fact a device running a new operating system from Samsung and Intel and not a the Android platform at all.
Other rumoured specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S3 include a 4.8 inch touch screen display, a 12 mega pixel camera and a super slim and lightweight form like that of the existing Galaxy S2.
